Conn. Fire Victim Jumps from 2nd Floor

BETHEL, Conn. -- A person jumped from the window of a burning Bethel home, landing on the porch roof Thursday morning, fire officials said. The blaze broke out at a multi-family home across from St. Mary's Church on Route 302 at about 1 a.m. Fire officials said one person jumped from a second-floor window to the roof of a porch, injuring their leg. That person was rescued from the porch roof by firefighters and transported to an area hospital.

A person jumped from the window of a burning Bethel home, landing on the porch roof Thursday morning, fire officials said.

The blaze broke out at a multi-family home across from St. Mary's Church on Route 302 at about 1 a.m.

Fire officials said one person jumped from a second-floor window to the roof of a porch, injuring their leg. That person was rescued from the porch roof by firefighters and transported to an area hospital.

The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes. Fire officials said the fire began in the home's kitchen and spread to the second floor.

One firefighter suffered a shoulder injury and was transported to an area hospital. The resident and firefighter's conditions were not known Thursday morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
