Calif. FF Burns Ears in Apartment Fire

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- One person was rescued from a two-alarm apartment fire in Rancho Cordova early Saturday. Sacramento Metro Fire Capt. Christian Pebbles said it happened at 3:32 a.m. Saturday in the 2900 block of Routier Road. Pebbles said it took 38 firefighters and 34 minutes to bring the fire under control.

One person was rescued from a two-alarm apartment fire in Rancho Cordova early Saturday.

Sacramento Metro Fire Capt. Christian Pebbles said it happened at 3:32 a.m. Saturday in the 2900 block of Routier Road.

Pebbles said it took 38 firefighters and 34 minutes to bring the fire under control.

One person was rescued and resuscitated and is being treated for burn injuries at UC Davis Medical Center. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.

One firefighter suffered burns to his ear and is being treated.

Eight of the 12 units in the building were uninhabitable, leaving 17 people displaced. The Red Cross is assisting those residents.

Damage to the property is estimated at $1 million.

The fire cause is under investigation.
