Fire Breaks Out at Ind. Food Plant

LOGANSPORT, Ind. -- A fire raged inside the Tyson Foods plant on the southwest side of Logansport Friday morning, forcing about 1,000 workers out of the building. Crews from several fire departments and numerous police officers were sent to the scene just after 9 a.m. The Logansport Police Department said the blaze was large, but it was brought under control by 11 a.m. Workers were evacuated and were still outside the building at 11:30 a.m.

A fire raged inside the Tyson Foods plant on the southwest side of Logansport Friday morning, forcing about 1,000 workers out of the building.

Crews from several fire departments and numerous police officers were sent to the scene just after 9 a.m.

The Logansport Police Department said the blaze was large, but it was brought under control by 11 a.m.

Workers were evacuated and were still outside the building at 11:30 a.m.

Information about how the fire began wasn't immediately available, but it was confined to the building's interior.

There were no reports of injuries. According to Tyson's Web site, the facility is a pork processing plant.
