FORT SMITH, Ark. --
A big cloud of dark smoke could be seen over Fort Smith Friday afternoon after a fire at a salvage yard.
The blaze occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at Fort Smith Auto Parts at Wheeler Avenue near South I Street, 40/29 reported.
Fire officials told 40/29 News that the fire began as a worker was trying to remove a part from a vehicle with a blowtorch. The fire spread to a large portion of the yard.
Smoke can still be seen coming from the yard, but fire officials said they are just working on putting out hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
Crews said no structures were affected by the blaze.
The Fort Smith Fire Department said it had a ladder truck and several other trucks at the scene to extinguish the fire.
