A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation snowplow driver found a house engulfed in flames in Centre County late Tuesday.

Officials said the truck driver spotted and orange glow through the wood and called for help.

Little was left of the home on Black Moshannon Road in Rush Township. The homeowner was at work at the time and said his family has no idea what sparked the blaze.

As the PennDOT crew treated the road, firefighters had to haul equipment through snow and haul water in from a local school.

Philipsburg Fire Department Assistant Chief Jeff Harris said they used crews from Centre and Clearfield counties to help. Because it was in a no-hydrant area, they had to shuttle in water about three miles.

There were no reported injuries but the family said they were still looking for a missing cat.
