Arson Fires in Mich. Hurt Firefighters

FLINT, Mich. --  Fire crews in Flint were busy Wednesday night fighting five fires in just four hours. All the blazes were started in vacant homes in the same manner, fire officials said. So far, no suspects have been identified. Two firefighters were hurt battling the flames but not seriously. Battalion Chief Theresa Root said it appears the person who set the fires was trying to make a statement. Widespread layoffs take effect Thursday in the fire department as well as on the police force.
