LAS VEGAS --

One day after losing their homes and belongings in a massive fire, dozens of Las Vegans are receiving some holiday cheer from firefighters who helped them escape the blaze.

Toys and gift cards donated by firefighters and the Southern Nevada Burn Foundation were delivered to families at the Rainwalk Apartment complex Thursday.

The fire destroyed four buildings at the complex and injured two residents.

It’s not clear what caused the fire, which started around 6:15 a.m. and was fueled by strong winds for nearly two hours.

Fire officials said many of the people who lost their homes in the fire have been staying with neighbors at the complex.

The American Red Cross is accepting donations to help the fire victims. More information can be found on the organization’s
