FDNY Ladder Truck Collides With Car

A responding FDNY ladder truck collided with a car this morning, according to the news Web site DNAinfo.Ladder 21 was traveling down Ninth Avenue en route to an automatic fire alarm shortly after 9 a.m., when a civilian heading east on 30th Street made a right turn on the road and into the path of the oncoming truck.The fire truck had its sirens blaring, but the civilian motorist, 53-year-old Mark Freyberg, told DNAInfo that he couldn't hear it.

Ladder 21 was traveling down Ninth Avenue en route to an automatic fire alarm shortly after 9 a.m., when a civilian heading east on 30th Street made a right turn on the road and into the path of the oncoming truck.

The fire truck had its sirens blaring, but the civilian motorist, 53-year-old Mark Freyberg, told DNAInfo that he couldn't hear it.

After the incident occurred, firefighters jumped out of the ladder truck to check on Freyberg.

He didn't suffer any serious injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

An FDNY spokesman told DNAInfo that Ladder 21 is listed as "out of commission" but could not say how much damage it sustained.
