N.C. FF Pinned by Pipe Calls 'Mayday'

SCOTLAND COUNTY, N.C. -- A Wagram firefighter transmitted a "Mayday" after being pinned by a falling pipe while under a house while battling a blaze yesterday afternoon (Nov. 17), according to reports from the North Carolina-based Web site FireNews.net and the newspaper The Laurinburg Exchange.

The distress call transmission took place at approximately 4:53 p.m. A RIT team was deployed and the injured firefighter was located and rescued less than five minutes later.

Firefighter Daniel Locklear was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

No one else was injured at the fire scene.

The homeowner reported the fire at approximately 3:42 p.m. and fire officials believe the fire was electrical in nature and likely started under the floor of the house, according to the newspaper.
