Delaware Firefighter Injured in Shopping Center Blaze

A liquor store and three other businesses reportedly were damaged, with one report of a firefighter suffering minor injuries.

NEW CASTLE, Del. -- Five area fire companies battled a blaze late Sunday night at the Collins Park Shopping Center near New Castle.

A liquor store and three other businesses reportedly were damaged, with one report of a firefighter suffering minor injuries.

Crews were called to the shopping center located on New Castle Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. Sunday, said an official with the New Castle County fire board.

The one-alarm fire was under control about an hour later, an official said.

Firefighters from Holloway Terrace, Minquadale, Wilmington Manor, New Castle and Claymont responded to the scene, an official said.
