N.C. Firefighters Hit at Scene of Wreck

Two Enka-Candler volunteer firefighters were struck by a passing vehicle at the scene of an accident last night (Dec. 21), according to The Asheville Citizen-Times. The incident occurred on westbound Interstate 40 near the intersection of I-240 at approximately 8:42 p.m., fire officials told the newspaper. Both firefighters were hospitalized but their conditions were unknown. They were assisting other emergency crews when they were hit by the vehicle, which stopped after striking them.
