8 Md. Firefighters Injured in Blaze

Eight Prince George's County firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling a blaze at a single family home last night (Dec. 6), according to a department press release.The firefighters' injuries included burns, sprains, lacerations and exhaustion. All were transported to local hospitals for treatment.Crews from College Park, Hyattsville and surrounding communities responded to the fire at 7016 Partridge Place in University Park, finding the large two-story structure with heavy fire and smoke coming from both floors.

Crews from College Park, Hyattsville and surrounding communities responded to the fire at 7016 Partridge Place in University Park, finding the large two-story structure with heavy fire and smoke coming from both floors.

A family of five was home when the fire started and was able to escape safely.

A majority of the blaze was knocked down within an hour.

Investigators believe the fire is accidental and estimate loss at $700,000.
