Apartments Destroyed In North Carolina Fire

One firefighter was sent to a hospital because he got debris in his eye.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --

Eight people were displaced from their homes Friday afternoon when an apartment complex in South Charlotte caught fire.

Firefighters said two of the four units damaged at the Aspen Peak Apartments were destroyed.

About 45 firefighters responded to the call. They knocked down a chimney to get water inside the apartments to help put out the flames.

One firefighter was sent to a hospital because he got debris in his eye. Fire officials said he will be ok.

Investigators said the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, but theyre not sure how it started.
