Off-Duty Mass. FF Pulls Couple from Water
BOSTON --
An off-duty firefighter and a crowd of witnesses helped pull a couple out of their car after it plunged into the water near the Essex town dock on Saturday afternoon.
The firefighter, who is a member of the Peabody fire department, was standing near Periwinkles restaurant when the car drove over a wall in the parking lot and fell into the water.
The firefighter and several people who witnessed the accident said they leapt into the water and helped to pull the couple to safety. The two occupants of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
The car eventually sank into 15 feet of water and a dive team from Beverly was called in to assist with towing the vehicle out of the water.
