2-Alarm Fire Destroys Pa. Fire Station

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Thirteen fire companies converged Saturday afternoon at a volunteer fire station in Fairfield Township where a two-alarm fire ignited, emergency officials confirmed.

Thirteen fire companies converged Saturday afternoon at a volunteer fire station in Fairfield Township where a two-alarm fire ignited, emergency officials confirmed.

Crews were called to Route 711 at Mountain View Road north of Ligonier Township shortly before 4:30 p.m. Emergency officials said firefighters gained control over most of the fire within an hour.

WTAE Channel 4 Action News reporter Ashlie Hardway learned at the scene that the fire started in the kitchen of the fire station's social hall and spread from there. Hardway reported that a wedding reception was scheduled to take place at the social hall Saturday evening.

There were no reports of any injuries.
