An explosion at fire station in Poinciana sent two firefighters to the hospital.

The two firefighters were cooking food on a grill at Station 65 on Cypress Parkway just before six PM Friday when a gas tank blew up.

Apparently they started the fire, opened the door below the grill and some of the aerosol cans or something blew up, said Osceola County Deputy Fire Chief Danny McAvoy.

One of the firefighters suffered serious burns, to his arms, chest and face. The other firefighter was treated and released.

The State Fire Marshal is working to figure out exactly why the aerosol tank exploded.
