OREGON CITY, Ore. --

A man caught on camera celebrating his lottery ticket win at a grocery store is wanted on charges he stole from firefighters while they trained at a local park, police said Monday.

Oregon City police said the thief hopped aboard a fire engine and stole a firefighter's wallet and three packs filled with emergency equipment. The theft happened Sept. 18 at High Rocks Park on the Clackamas River, while Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue firefighters were training.

With stolen loot in hand, the thief immediately headed across a foot bridge and walked into a Safeway grocery store, where surveillance cameras captured the man purchasing $75 worth of lottery tickets.

The camera then showed the man throwing his hands in the air to celebrate his winnings. Police said the man later cashed his winning $45 lottery ticket.

After his lottery win, investigators said, the thief left the grocery and purchased two skateboards and a hat using the firefighter's card. The stolen merchandise and emergency equipment adds up to $1,000 worth of property.

Karen Snowley said she saw firefighters at the park on Friday. She said the location of the theft doesn't come as a surprise.

"I have to say there is a lot of people down here that you might never want to leave anything unlocked," Snowley said.

Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to call the Oregon City Police Department.
