DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. --

A 40-year-old Linwood man died Sunday when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the Tyro Fire Department building on Highway 150.

Highway Patrol troopers identified the man as James David Dyson.

Troopers said it wasn't immediately known what caused Dyson to drive his 1994 Toyota car off the road shortly after 7 p.m.

The vehicle crashed through the front bay door of the building and smashed a bumper on one of the fire trucks.

Dyson's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill.

Troopers said no one else was in the vehicle when the crash happened.
