Pennsylvania Firefighter, Elderly Woman Hurt in Fire

An 89-year-old woman and a firefighter suffer minor injuries when a two-alarm fire ignites at a house in West Mifflin.

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. --

An 89-year-old woman and a firefighter suffered minor injuries when a two-alarm fire ignited at a house in West Mifflin overnight.

Firefighters were called to a house fire in the 1800 block of Omar Street at about 3:40 a.m. Saturday. Fire officials at the scene said the woman suffered burns and smoke inhalation. She was taken to UPMC Mercy in an unknown condition.

A firefighter suffered a laceration to his leg and was also taken to UPMC Mercy.

The fire marshal continued to investigate a cause.
