KANSAS CITY, Kan. --

Five firefighters suffered injuries while responding to a fire at a vacant two-story building on Saturday morning.

Crews were sent to the home at Fourth Street and Richmond Avenue just before 10 a.m. and said they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the structure.

Officials said three firefighters were injured when the porch roof collapsed. Another suffered burns to his ears while inside the house and a fifth suffered a head injury when eaves fell from the roof.

Investigators said they had no information about the conditions of the firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters said the structure had already burned in a previous fire.
