Train Derails, Catches Fire in Pennsylvania

Firefighters and hazmat crews were called to the scene of a six-car train derailment.

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. --

Firefighters and hazmat crews were called to the scene of an eight-car train derailment just before 2 p.m. Friday in Indiana County.

Officials said six train cars contained ethanol and two contained propane. One of the cars containing ethanol split open and caught fire. Officials let that train car burn itself out.

The train was heading from Conway, Pa., to Newark, N.J., when it derailed along Mulligan Hill Road in West Wheatfield Township.

Channel 11s Alan Jennings reported the derailment happened in an isolated area and no evacuations were ordered.

No injuries were reported.
