MT. ORAB, Ohio --
A Mt. Orab woman raised the stakes for anyone who has said they would do anything for their pets.
Surrounded by a blaze that would level her home and -- at times -- exploding amunition, Janette Blank ran back into her house to save the two dogs she loved on this Valentines Day.
With only a wet towel covering her face, she carried Shady and Arlow to safety.
Officials are investigating the fire that would leave four people and two dogs without a home Saturday morning.
Family members had removed a smoking heater from the home on the 16000 block of Clement Road, Friday night, but went to another place to sleep, as significant amounts of smoke had accumulated.
The next time they would see their house, it would be totally destroyed.
All of the home's occupants escaped safely, according to fire officials. The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.
The Mt. Orab Fire Department was notified of a fully engulfed house just before 7 a.m. Saturday.
Fire personell were putting out hot spots late into the morning.
