Family Dog Dies in Chesterfield, Virginia Fire

A primary search was conducted and the family dog was discovered.

The family was not home when fire broke out at 11100 block of Timonium Street in the Mineola subdivision on Jan 16 around 1030 hours.

An alert neighbor spotted smoke coming from the nearby home and quickly called 911 for help.

Responding were Engines 17, 1, 3, Truck 14, Bttn 2 and TSO.

Fire on scene reported fire thorugh the roof and heavy smoke.

Crews set up for an aggressive interior attack laying 5-inch quick connect supply line and stretching multiple hand-lines.

Roof ventilation was performed.

A primary search was conducted and the family dog was discovered. The dog was already deceased.

Firefighters were able to accomplish a quick knockdown. Fire Marshal Keith Chambers began investigating the cause.

Crews performed overhaul.

Keith Chambers of the Chesterfield Fire Marshal's office said the cause has been ruled accidental and was started from an outside heat pump.

Damage estimates were not yet available.
