Train Derails in Southeast D.C.

A CSX freight train had lost seven cars into the Anacostia River, authorities said.

WASHINGTON --

D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services units responded to a train derailment in southeast Washington Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The derailment took place in Anacostia Park north of the Sousa Bridge on Pennsylvania Avenue. Units arrived at the scene just before 3 p.m. and found a CSX freight train had lost seven cars into the Anacostia River, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The train was hauling coal.
