Kansas City Woman Dies From Injuries In Wreck With Fire Truck
A woman who suffered injuries last week in a wreck with a fire truck died Tuesday night at a local hospital, authorities said.
Police identified her as Nelda D. Seeley, 84. Investigators said Seeley was a passenger in a Jeep Cherokee that collided with a fire truck.
The fire truck was responding to an emergency call when the accident happened during the evening rush hour on June 9 at 133rd Street and State Line Road.
"When they hit that fire engine, I mean, it was a loud boom," witness Forrest Graves said.
Seven other people, including four firefighters, went to hospitals. They are expected to recover.
Friends said they were in shock over Seeley's death.
"I'm just so sorry to hear about that. That's a bad tragedy for the family," neighbor Calvin Knox said. "She was a good neighbor and a beautiful person."
The accident is still under investigation.
