Fire Destroys Washington Home

Firefighters are trying to determine what caused a house to go up in flames on Wednesday night.

Bothell firefighters are trying to determine what caused a house to go up in flames on Wednesday night.

The homeowners said they were watching television when they heard popping noises and then smelled smoke at about 9:45 p.m.

"I just grabbed a hose, tried to spray it and hollered at her to call 911 (because) the hose wasn't going to do anything," said Leslie Lewis.

Firefighters said the fire started in the home's garage and then spread.

"We entered the residence and found that the fire had gotten into the crawl space between multiple layers of ceilings that had been installed through the years," said Warren Burns, Chief of the Bothell Fire Department.

No one was hurt, but a kitten is missing.
