New Jersey Fire Department Support Member Killed

A member of the Trenton, N.J. "Signal 22" Association was killed Monday night responding to a fire call.

A member of the Trenton, N.J. "Signal 22" Association was killed Monday night responding to a fire call.

A Trenton Police spokesperson said David Kelty, 53, of Hamilton Township, worked full-time in the department's communications center. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Hamilton, N.J.

According to media reports, Kelty died when his northbound vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with another vehicle driven by a Patterson woman, whose injuries were not life threatening. Police said he may have had a medical emergency while behind the wheel of the Signal 22 vehicle.

Visitation for Kelty will be held Friday, Feb. 9 at the Kingston and Kemp Funeral home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

His funeral will be held at the same funeral home Saturday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m.
