The Detroit Fire Department has contained a two-alarm, Hazmat Level 1 fire at a commercial garage on the city's west side Thursday.

Flames were seen shooting from Martin's Auto Service located at Plymouth and Robson just before 11 a.m. The building houses an automotive repair business and concerns over chemicals inside led to the Hazmat situation, Local 4 reported.

The owner, William Martin, said there were $1 million worth of cars inside the business, including race cars. He said he has owned the business since 1996.

Martin said one of his employees was inside the garage when the fire started, and ran out. No injuries were reported.

"I don't know what happened," said Martin.

Martin's business is insured, but he will have to rebuild, Local 4 reported.

The cause of the fire is not known.
