Indianapolis Firefighters Injured in Blaze

There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.

INDIANAPOLIS --

Two firefighters were injured and several apartments were heavily damaged in a fire on Indianapolis' northeast side early Friday morning.

The blaze began at about 3 a.m. at the Riverbend apartments, near 86th Street and Allisonville Road.

Twelve units were damaged in the fire.

One Lawrence firefighter was treated for injuries at the scene. An Indianapolis firefighter was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment. He was later released.

There was no immediate word on what caused the fire, but investigators said they think it was accidental.   Damage was estimated at $250,000.
