(Bayshore-WABC, February 14, 2007) - A Long Island flower shop burned down last night, and the timing couldn't have been worse.

The Suffolk County Police Department Arson Section is investigating a fire which destroyed "Patthey Florists" located at Main Street and Maple Avenue in Bay Shore.

Firefighters arrived to find huge flames engulfing the one story florist shop. A short time later, the roof caved in.

Heavy equipment from the Town of Islip was needed to remove the collapsed roof from the rear of the building to assist firefighters. The investigation is continuing, but the fire is not considered suspicious.

It turns out, a ruptured gas main was feeding the flames. No one was hurt.
