Three Arkansas Firefighters Injured in Crash

There is no word as to the severity of those injuries.
Rescue workers are at the scene of what they have called a major crash involving a fire truck and a semitruck in Fort Smith. Police said the wreck happend at 1:15 p.m. at 4006 Towson Ave. Officials said the fire crew was responding to a call at the Ribeye Steak restaurant at 3800 Zero St. when the unit was hit by a semi. First responders said three firemen have been injured. Two of them were taken to Sparks Hospital, while officials said a third firefighter was taken to St. Edwards for treatment of minor injuries. Crews also said the driver of the semitruck was hurt, too. They said his were minor, and he was not taken to a hospital. Fort Smith police cited the truck driver on a complaint of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Police have been rerouting traffic around the scene, sending drivers off Towson Street and onto Wheeler Avenue. Stay tuned to 40/29 for more information as it becomes available.
