Two Kansas Firefighters Hurt in Crash

The shift of the water may have caused driver to lose control.

Two volunteer firefighters were hurt Friday night when their fire truck overturned on the way to a fire, KMBC's Chris Nagus reported.

It happened while the DeSoto firefighters were on their way to a barn fire at and Evening Star Road in rural Johnson County.

A sheriff's deputy said the fire truck flipped over on a curve, and both firefighters had to be cut from the truck. A man and woman were injured and treated at a local hospital. Both are expected to recover.

"It appears they may have been leaking water, and the shift of weight might have caused the engine to turn over," Lt. Jay Fabert said.

The barn fire near Eudora was extinguished.
