OVERLAND PARK, Kan., --

One person was killed in a townhome fire in Overland Park.

Crews were called to the 10000 block of Gillett just after 4 a.m. Friday.

Officials said neighbors called 911 saying light smoke was coming from the home.

84-year-old Bonnie L. Sawyer was found dead inside the home just after crews made entry into the structure.

Crews were able to contain the blaze to one townhome. Four other neighbors in nearby townhomes were temporally displaced, but were able to return a short time later, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Damage is estimated at $85,000 to the home and contents.
