A captain with the San Bernardino County Fire Department died Friday of complications suffered following a stroke last Saturday.
Capt. Vance Tomaselli was stricken last week while driving an engine to a fire call.
Published reports indicated that he felt the medical emergency coming on, but managed to keep control of the vehicle enough to prevent it from veering over an embankment. Instead, it sideswiped a tree.
The other firefighter was not hurt, and radioed for help. The captain was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Funeral Information
A memorial service for Capt. Tomaselli will be held Wednesday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland, Calif.
