Virginia Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Fire

Fairfax County firefighters were called to a home in the Kingstown area of Fairfax County, Va., Tuesday morning for a house fire.

Officials said firefighters responded about 6:20 a.m. to the 6500 block of McKenna Way.

Arriving units found flames spread throughout the three-story townhouse with damage to the front of the home, the garage and attic, officials said.

While fighting the two-alarm fire, officials said the structure began to collapse and emergency crews had to pull back.

Officials said three adults who were sleeping in the home when the fire began were alerted by their fire alarm.

Two residents have been displaced, officials said, and the third person was a visiting guests.

Officials said the two adjoining homes also suffered damage.

Investigators assessed the damaged to the three homes at $700,000.

The Red Cross is assisting residents.
