The fire chief said the fire began when someone at the residence used a large grinder to get rid of an old sofa.
A fire that happened on Saturday morning in an old farmhouse in Kiski Township caused the elderly occupants to get out of their house in a hurry. The fire chief said the fire began when someone at the residence on Garvers Ferry Road used a large grinder to get rid of an old sofa. The upholstery of the couch caught on fire, and the wood frame of the house caught fire. It took three hours for firefighters to put out the flames.
