Man Killed in Ohio Apartment Fire

A man is dead after a fire at his Avondale apartment on Saturday afternoon. Firefighters responded to 538 East Rockdale Street just after 3 p.m. to find fire in a first-floor apartment, with smoke in the upper floors. When they got inside the burning apartment , firefighters said they found a man badly burned inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's name has not been released. Firefighters are attempting to determine the cause of the fire and whether smoke detectors were functioning at the time.
