Fallen Firefighters Honored at Pittsburgh Church

Dec. 3, 2006
Two firefighters were honored in the newly rebuilt church they died trying to save. Charles Brace and Richard Stefanakis died in March 2004 when the Bell tower of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, in the Hill District, collapsed during a fire. The new $7 million church was consecrated a few weeks ago and included a room dedicated to the firefighters. The families of the firefighters, along with city officials and community leaders, gathered Sunday for a dedication ceremony.
