Fiscal Year 2006 Fire Prevention and Safety Grants Update

Applications for these grants must be received by January 12, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The Department of Homeland Security posted today on the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program Website the Program Guidance for the FY06 Fire Prevention and Safety Grants application. The application period is presently scheduled to begin on Monday, December 4, 2006, at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Applications for these grants must be received by January 12, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The applicant tutorial will be available in the near future through the Fire Grant Support website. The tutorial is designed to instruct users on the preparation and submittal of competitive applications as well as provide an overview of the funding priorities and evaluation criteria.

Applicants who have questions regarding the Fire Prevention and Safety Grants opportunity should contact the help desk at 1-866-274-0960 or at [email protected]. During the application period, the help desk will operate Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (EST), but is prepared to revise hours of operation based on volume, demand and holidays.

The AFG Program is administered by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Grants and Training in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
