MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. --

Firefighters put out a two-alarm fire Wednesday morning at a Central Florida sports store and officials are checking for structural damage.

The fire broke out at the Island Sport Shack in the 100 block of North Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island at about 9 a.m., Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

The fire was knocked down by 9:23 a.m., firefighters said. The roof was 70 percent consumed, said Orlando Dominguez, spokesman for the Brevard County Fire-Rescue.

No one was injured, but one firefighter received back injuries while putting out the fire, Dominguez said.

People were evacuated from a Pizza Hut located to the north of the business and gas and electric lines were shut off in the block. Firefighters said they were concerned that high winds would push the fire toward the restaurant.

Courtenay Parkway was shut down for about an hour while the fire was brought under control.
