Children Injured In Fiery Detroit Crash

A fiery crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car resulted in injuries Wednesday in Detroit.

The collision, which occurred on eastbound Interstate 96 at the Southfield freeway, left the car wedged beneath the tractor-trailer, Local 4 reported. Detroit firefighters were called to the scene to extinguish a fire in the tractor-trailer, the station learned.

A woman and two children were transported to a hospital. Their conditions were not known.

Traffic has resumed moving on the eastbound side of the freeway.

It was not known whether slick roads played a role in the crash.

Numerous spinout crashes were reported on metro Detroit roadways Wednesday afternoon because of snow, Local 4 reported. Motorists are urged to use caution.
