Fire Forces 112 To Evacuate Florida Nursing Home

It is believed the fire started in a laundry room when a light fixture fell from the ceiling and apparently fell in a bin of clothing.

A fire forced dozens of nursing home patients to evacuate in Daytona Beach Tuesday night, according to Local 6 News.

Firefighters responded to reports of flames at the Horizon Healthcare Center located at 1350 S. Nova Road.

It is believed the fire started in a laundry room when a light fixture fell from the ceiling and apparently fell in a bin of clothing.

There were no reported injuries in connection with the fire.

Flames caused about $20,000 worth of damage to the nursing home.

There were 112 people inside the building when the fire was reported.
