North Carolina Firefighters Tackle Equipment Fire

Flames rolled to the sky, smoke billowed through the air and East Rockingham Fire Department was toned out at 1445 hours on Oct. 22.

The Richmond County firefighters responded and discovered a track hoe fully involved.

Tanker 803 was dispatched to the scene with 1500 gallons of water.

The equipment was a total loss but firefighters were able to protect nearby exposures and contain the fire to the area of origin.

The industrial machine was being used to clear a lot that had been condemed.

No injuries were reported.
