Fire investigators were trying Saturday to determine the cause of a three-home fire that sent three firefighters to area hospitals, NewsChannel 4s Reg Chapman reported. Firefighters arrived about midnight to put out the blaze at the intersection of Central Avenue and Oakwood Place. Investigators told Chapman they believe the fire started in the abandoned house and spread to two adjacent two-family homes, which then had to be evacuated. A partial collapse of the abandoned house resulted in the injury of three firefighters, who were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
