Missouri Firefighter Dies While Working Scene

Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland confirmed at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday that a member of the Neosho Fire Department has died while fighting a fire that broke out at Ragland Mills.

A Neosho firefighter has died in the line of duty.

Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland confirmed at approximately 2:30 p.m. Monday that a member of the Neosho Fire Department has died while fighting a fire that broke out at Ragland Mills.

The name of the firefighter has not been released.

Firefighters were working a scene of a fire at Ragland Mills, 14079 Hammer Road, in Neosho when a fireman was reported injured.

Few details of the incident have been released as of 2:30 p.m. Firefighters responded a report of a fire in a grain bin at approximately 12:45 p.m. Monday. The bin was attached to a building.

Later it was released that a fireman was injured at the scene. Crews present as of 2:30 p.m. were Neosho Fire Department, Neosho Police Department, Newton County Sheriff's Department, Newton County Ambulance and Newton County Coroner Mark Bridges.

St. John's Regional Medical Center's MedFlight helicopter was also on the scene.
