Fallen Remembered at Memorial Service

The families of the nation's fallen responders received hugs, pats on the back and comforting words from President George W. Bush.

The families also were presented with a flag and a rose.

Following the presentations, Bush placed a wreath at the national monument.

There was a common wish among firefighters, families and officials -- they long for the day when there is no need to unveil a new plaque with the names of fallen heroes.
