Orange County Florida Fire Rescue Fills Swimming Pool

July 5, 2006
There were no fires in the backyard in question.

An Orange County firefighter is under investigation for using a county tanker truck to fill up someone's pool.

There were no fires in the backyard in question on Alison Daphne Court over the weekend, but tanker 82 made a house call anyway.

The crew pulled the truck up to the fence, and used a hose to fill a pool. The home's owner, William Vazquez also works for the county.

Fire department officials said public safety was never put at risk. But they admitted, it would have been better to have that tanker full of water, just in case.

It always helps, it always helps to have as much equipment as you can, said Chief Karl Ober of the Orange County Fire Rescue.

A hearing will decide exactly what discipline, if any, the firefighter and his lieutenant will face
