Residents of a southeast Houston house jumped out of windows to escape from a fire on Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston firefighters responded to the blaze on Dover Street near Park Place Boulevard at about 10:15 a.m.

Witnesses said they heard glass shatter and then saw flames shooting out the windows.

Several witnesses threw rocks at the windows to alert the occupants to the fire.

One woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for cuts, bruises and smoke inhalation. Her condition was not released.

Firefighters said the roof caved in while they tried to battle the blaze.

The home was destroyed.

A fire truck dispatched to the blaze was involved in a traffic accident on the Gulf Freeway on the way to the house. The crew ran down the service road to help other units.

Officials said the fire is suspicious and arson investigators will determine the cause.
