APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (AP) -- A fast-moving brush fire had burned up to 500 acres north of this city by Wednesday night, authorities said.

The Ghost Fire was threatening only one structure but crews believed they could save it, said Vinnie Picard, a spokesman for the Tonto National Forest.

Picard said the blaze was burning near Highway 88 and was moving away from Apache Junction and was not a threat to the city.

Three firefighting crews, three helicopters and two air tankers were battling the fire, which was reported around 5 p.m., Picard said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
