THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) -- Brush ignited by a truck fire burned over 10 acres on a hillside above U.S. 101 on Wednesday, authorities said.

The fire started about 11:45 a.m. and moved uphill near commercial buildings, said Joe Luna, spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department.

About 80 firefighters and water-dropping helicopters battled the blaze, he said.

The cause of the truck fire was not yet known.

Earlier in Los Angeles, a hillside fire threatened a half-dozen homes in the El Sereno area before water-dropping helicopters and 13 companies of firefighters extinguished the flames.

The fire was kept to a 2-acre area and no injuries were reported.
